PK Tech Girl: Series 1, Episode 7
There's been speculation in Farscape fan fiction for years about John Crichton and Gilina Raenez and if they really would have hooked up and what would have happened to Aeryn Sun. Farscaped's One Good Day and One Eyed DVD's Unrealized Peacekeeper are two classic stories that center on early John's science geek and homesickness that focused on Gilina's technical knowledge and the fact she's a blond versus Aeryn's dark coloring and military bearing.
Yet, there was something in John that blossomed in space; a personal power that allowed him to straddle technical and strategic ability with a capacity for violent action when needed. He adapted. Gilina couldn't. She was the past and Aeryn was the future.
You can see the sweetness in Ben's performance in PK Tech Girl vs his hardness and serious nature at the end of the season in Nerve. Yes, the situation was much more critical in Nerve and dangerous with John entering enemy territory to save Aeryn but even Gilina recognized that John had changed. He fit Larraq's uniform. He had become more paranoid and scared from his life on the run even before meeting Scorpius. Gilina didn't fit in his world any more. Yet, he was still John Crichton who told Gilina on her deathbed that he could have loved her.
