Babylon: Series 9, Episode 8

Season 9's Babylon was a chance for Ben to show the deep strength of his character, Cameron Mitchell. Ben did the athletic stunts during both the training scenes, exercise scenes and final fight. He also gave a gorgeous performance detailing Cameron's faith and optimistic outlook.

The script was strong (although really a take off on The Last Samurai in much of its use of children's reactions, teaching a white guy how to fight and a suicidal final battle). There were a lot of chances for Ben's comedic readings for Cameron to lighten up what could have been a much darker episode, given that Cameron was being trained to die.

Ben's scenes with Haikon, played by Tony Todd, were quite powerful providing the depth of belief with his use of eye contact, emphatic reading of what could have been a rather silly lecture about Belief and Faith.

Cameron's goal during his captivity was to try and convince the leader of the Sodan not to accept the Ori religion. Although he didn't succeed, he did befriend Jolon whose brother he wounded (and who Jolan believed had been killed) and convince him to retain the Sodan culture rather than give in to the alien religion.

PoohBear wrote a great tag piece to Babylon you can read here: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/3198755/1/BabylonTag
